Donald E. Hines
Dr. Donald Hines became President of the La. Senate in 2004. He has represented District 28 as a State Senator since 1993. Hines is a member of numerous legislative committees. He is a country doctor of the old school and has become one of the Senate’s most articulate spokesmen for the needs of the working class and poor people. He was the chairman of the task force that created the Children’s Health Ins. Program, authored legislation that made LaCHIP a reality, authored the Rural Hospital Preservation Act, conceptualized the Gene Therapy Research Initiative and authored the SeniorRx Prescription Program.
