Dutch Morial

Ernest “Dutch” Morial

“Feisty, pugnacious, tenacious” describes Ernest “Dutch” Morial who in 1978 became New Orleans’ first black mayor. His son, Marc Morial, now holds this office. “Dutch” was the first black graduate of LSU Law School, assistant U.S. Attorney, and the first black elected to the 4th Circuit of Appeal.
