Jessel Ourso, Sr.

Jessel Ourso, Sr. began his law enforcement career in 1955 with the Baton Rouge City Police then with the Louisiana State Police. In 1964, Mr. Ourso was elected Sheriff of Iberville Parish; gaining the distinction of being the youngest sheriff ever elected in the State of Louisiana. While sheriff he was elected as a delegate to the 1973 State Constitutional Convention. He was elected to four terms and served ten years as Sheriff of Iberville Parish until his death on August 28, 1978.
