Joe Sampite
“Mayor Joe” is possibly one of the best- known former mayors in Louisiana. First elected as the Mayor of the City of Natchitoches in 1980 and served in that capacity until 2000. He was chosen by the Shreveport Times as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Northwest Louisiana. He is probably best known for his “I Love Natchitoches” stickers and for always wearing white socks.
