L.R. “Pop” Hataway

Mr. Hataway served as deputy sheriff in Grant Parish from 1962-1971, followed by a four-year stint as an investigator for the DA’s office. In 1976 he was elected sheriff and served for the next 32 years, making him the longest serving sheriff in Grant Parish history. He worked continuously to improve the services and facilities of the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office. After his retirement in 2008 he was appointed Vice-chairman of the La. Board of Pardons by Governor Bobby Jindal.
