Robert W. Bates
Mr. Bates started his Secret Service career in 1965 by accompanying President Johnson on domestic and foreign trips. He provided security for the Johnson and Nixon children while they were in college until he was assigned to the Nixon White House. He provided security for Vice-President Agnew, Mamie Eisenhower, Henry Kissenger and foreign heads of state. He accompanied President Nixon on his famous trip to China in 1972. He finished his career in 1976 as Agent in Charge of the Shreveport, LA field office.
