Speedy Long
At the young age of 27, Speedy was elected to the La. State Senate. He ran against his cousin, Gillis Long for a seat in Congress, and won. After 4 terms in Congress he decided he would run instead for District Attorney of the 28th Judicial District, he served 12 years in this capacity. In 1994, Mr. Long was appointed Judge Tempore and filled a vacancy there for 61⁄2 months. He then returned to a full-time law practice.
