W. Fox McKeithen

Fox McKeithen, an icon in La. politics, was born in Columbia in 1946. In 1983 Fox was elected to the La. House of Rep. and in 1987 he was elected Secretary of State. In 2003, Fox capped his 22-year political career by being elected to 5 consecutive terms as La.’s Secretary of State. His department was free of scandal, and he even lobbied for a law to prevent himself from politicking since his job was so keenly involved with elections. Fox was probably the last real colorful La. politician, he really prided himself in being able to make stump speeches.
